THE CITY OF <br /> pLE ASANTONO CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> December 7, 2010 <br /> Community Services <br /> TITLE: APPROVE THE HARRINGTON PUBLIC ART ACQUISITION PLAN AND <br /> THE IMPLEMENTATION OF "PHASE ONE" OF THE PLAN <br /> SUMMARY <br /> Pleasanton residents, Nancy and Gary Harrington have proposed a 10 -year public art <br /> acquisition plan to assist the City of Pleasanton with acquiring public art. The <br /> Harrington Public Art Acquisition Plan (Plan) has been reviewed and approved by the <br /> Civic Arts Commission, the Parks and Recreation Commission, the Economic Vitality <br /> Advisory Committee, and the Board of Directors of the Pleasanton Downtown <br /> Association (Attachment 1). <br /> On behalf of Mr. and Mrs. Harrington, staff is requesting that the City Council approve <br /> the Plan and the implementation of "Phase One" of the Plan, which specifies the <br /> acquisition, location, and installation of three (3) sculptures (Attachment 2). <br /> CIVIC ARTS COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION <br /> That the City Council approve the Nancy and Gary Harrington Public Art Acquisition <br /> Plan and the implementation of "Phase One" of the Plan. <br /> PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION <br /> That the City Council approve the Nancy and Gary Harrington Public Art Acquisition <br /> Plan and the implementation of "Phase One" of the Plan. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> That the City Council approve the Nancy and Gary Harrington Public Art Acquisition <br /> Plan and the implementation of "Phase One" of the Plan. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> Funding for the acquisition of all three (3) sculptures has been provided by Nancy and <br /> Gary Harrington. There will be incremental costs involved with site preparation, <br /> installation and /or signage. It is estimated that these costs will not exceed more than <br /> $7,500, per sculpture. Funds are available in the Public Art Acquisition Fund for this <br /> project and are included FY 2010/11 Budget. <br />
