THE CITY OF 7
CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
pLE ASANTON.
September 7, 2010
Community Development
Traffic Engineering Division
TITLE: ADOPT RESOLUTION APPROVING CHANGES TO THE FEDERAL
ROADWAY CLASSIFICATION MAP WITHIN THE CITY OF PLEASANTON
SUMMARY
The Functional Classification Map is maintained by Caltrans and the Federal Highway
Administration. Any updates to this map must be approved by City Council resolution.
The California Vehicle Code requires that every road identified on this map must have a
speed survey completed to establish the speed limit. There are several local roadways
on this map that need to be downgraded to a local roadway classification to be able to
continue to enforce the 25 mph prima facie speed limit.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends review and adoption of the resolution approving changes to the
Functional Classification Map to reflect downgrading some streets to local roadways in
order to facilitate enforcement efforts.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT
Adoption of the resolution has no financial impact.
