THE CITY OF 11 <br /> CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> pL£ ASANTON. <br /> July 20, 2010 <br /> Community Development Department <br /> Engineering Division <br /> TITLE: ACCEPTANCE OF PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS PERFORMED BY KNIFE <br /> RIVER CONSTRUCTION FOR THE ANNUAL WATER REPLACEMENT <br /> PROJECT, CIP NO. 081028 <br /> SUMMARY <br /> The subject project consisted of the installation of new water main, water service <br /> laterals, new fire hydrant runs, fire lines and water main tie -ins, and various related <br /> appurtenances along East Angela Street, Commerce Drive and Commerce Circle. The <br /> objective of this project is to improve water distribution pressure, upgrade underground <br /> infrastructures, minimize required repairs and reduce ongoing maintenance cost. <br /> Construction of the subject project is complete and is ready for acceptance. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> Staff recommends that the City Council take the following action at the meeting of July <br /> 20, 2010: <br /> 1. Accept the improvements for this project. <br /> 2. Authorize the City Clerk to file a Notice of Completion for the subject project. <br /> 3. Authorize payment of the retention in the amount of $43,965.96 to Knife River <br /> Construction thirty days after recordation of the Notice of Completion. <br /> 4. Authorize the transfer of the remaining balance of $58,364.00 from the project, <br /> CIP No. 081028 (Annual Water Replacement Project) to CIP No. 091028 (Annual <br /> Water Replacement Project). <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> This project will result in a decrease in maintenance cost associated with ongoing repair <br /> of leaking water mains. <br />
