THE CITY OF 5
CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
pL EASANTONm
February 2, 2010
Police Department
TITLE: APPROVAL OF SPECIAL EVENT STREET CLOSURES FOR CALENDAR
YEAR 2010
SUMMARY:
The Pleasanton Municipal Code requires City Council approval of parades and special
events which necessitate the temporary closure of City streets and temporary parking
restrictions.
RECOMMENDATION:
Approve the street closures for the 2010 Special Events as detailed in Attachment 1.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT:
This information is being provided to give the City Council and the citizens of
Pleasanton an estimate of personnel costs connected to street closures in 2010.
It is estimated the Police Department will expend approximately 520 hours on street
closures relating to special events this year. The Streets Department estimates
approximately 400 hours to prepare for, set up, and then collect miscellaneous barriers,
cones and barricades for the special events listed in this staff report.
After calculating the police personnel costs at an overtime rate, and the Streets
Department personnel costs associated with 2010 special events, the cost of street
closures associated with the events listed in this staff report are approximately $50,450
($40,450 Police Department; $10,000 Streets)
