9 <br /> THE CITY OF <br /> CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> pLEASANTON® <br /> June 16, 2009 <br /> Livermore Pleasanton Fire <br /> TITLE: AUTHORIZE AN EXTENSION TO THE FIRST RESPONDER ADVANCED <br /> LIFE SUPPORT SERVICES AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY AND THE <br /> COUNTY OF ALAMEDA <br /> SUMMARY <br /> The County of Alameda (County) has an existing agreement with the City for the <br /> Livermore Pleasanton Fire Department (LPFD) to provide First Responder Advance Life <br /> Support (FRALS) services. The proposed amendment extends the current agreement <br /> for two years until June 30, 2011 and includes a 3% rate increase for FRALS services in <br /> the first year of the extension. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> Authorize the City Manager to approve an amendment to the FRALS agreement <br /> between the City and the County. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> The County currently compensates the City for the 5 -LPFD paramedic units that provide <br /> FRALS services in the event of a medical emergency. Extension of the FRALS <br /> agreement allows the City to remain eligible to receive compensation for first responder <br /> paramedic services provided by the LPFD. Based on the number of daily paramedic <br /> units provided, the City will receive $214,466 in each of the fiscal years 2009/10 and <br /> 2010/11, for a total of $428,932 over the extension period.
