CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> COUNTY OF ALAMEDA <br /> STATE OF CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO._'~_/.~LZ)-- / <br /> <br />RE: HOLIDAYS FOR CITY EMPLOYEES <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the State Legislature in 1969 amended those provisions of <br /> <br />the Government Code providing for holidays for public <br /> <br />employees so as to, so far as possible, make holidays fall <br /> <br />on either a Friday or a Monday; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Government Code provisions are applicable to local <br /> <br />agencies unless otherwise provided by ordinance or resolu- <br /> <br />tion; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Pleasanton has provided in Section 1108 of <br /> <br />Personnel Rules for the number and dates of City employee <br /> <br />holidays, thus requiring action by resolution or ordinance <br /> <br />to effect the newly provided for public employee holiday <br /> <br />provisions in the Government Code; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />1. That Section 1108 of the Personnel Rules of the City of <br /> <br />Pleasanton related to holidays for City employees be <br /> <br />amended so as to provide as follows: <br /> <br />"Section 1108 HOLIDAYS: The holidays to be observed in <br /> this City are as follows: <br /> <br />(a) January 1st <br />(b) February 12~h, known as "Lincoln Day." <br />(c) The third Monday in February, known as <br /> "Washington Day" <br />(d) The last Monday in May known as "Memorial Day. <br />(e) July 4th <br />(f) The First Monday in September known as "Labor <br /> Day." <br />(g) September 9th, known as "Admission Day." <br />(h) The fourth Monday in October, known as "Veter- <br /> ans Day." <br /> (i) Thanksgiving Day <br />(j) The Friday following Thanksgiving Day. <br />(k) December 25th <br />(1) Every day on which an election is held through~ <br /> out the State. <br />(m) City offices shall also be closed on Good <br /> Friday between 1:00 P.M. and 3:00 P.M. <br /> <br /> <br />
