CITY OF PLEASEON <br /> COUNTy OF ALAMEDA <br /> STATE OF CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 74-15 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OPPOSING ASSEMBLY BILL 2340 (Z'BERG) <br />WHEREAS, Assembly Bill No. 2340 was introduced by Assemblyman <br /> <br /> Z'Berg which would require a full-time paid fire depart- <br /> ment at every airport serving a scheduled air carrier and <br /> holdiP4 a federal certificate; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS~ the City of Livemore has an airport which, under the <br /> provisions of this legislation, would be required to pro- <br /> vide a full-time paid fire department; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Airport Committee for the City of Livemore, on <br /> January 2, 1974, adopted a resolution requesting the City <br /> Council of the City of ~t~ezmetento oppose this legisla- <br /> tion; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Planning Commission of the City of pleasanton,which <br /> has been delegated the responsibility by the City Council <br /> to act as a liaison between the City of pleasanton and the <br /> Airport Committee of the City of Livemore, at its meeting <br /> Of January 9, 1974, voted to oppose this legislation and <br /> <br /> requested the City Council to take a similar sta~d~ and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the position of the Planning Commission is that they are <br /> not opposed to procedures necessary to insure safety of <br /> airports but they are opposed to all governmental juris- <br /> dictions throughout the state being equally responsible <br /> for the funding of such procedures; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Assembly Bill 2340 would in fact place the burden for <br /> funding such fire proteotion service on cities and towns <br /> throughout the state because the legislature would be <br /> obligated under ~21643 of the Revenue and Taxation Code <br /> to 'reimburse agencies subject to the provisions of AB2340 <br /> for costs incurred by them, such sums coming from the <br /> General Fund of the State of California; and <br /> <br /> <br />
