CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />COUNTY OF ALAMEDA <br />STATE OF CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 76-19 <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION RELATING TO THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A PUBLIC <br /> SAFETY DEPARTMENT IN THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, THE City Manager of the City of Pleasanton is charged by <br /> §1-2.13 of the Ordinance Code of the City of Pleasanton <br /> with the administrative responsibility of directing and <br /> controlling the operation of the City and is responsible <br /> for the efficient administration of all of the affairs of <br /> the City which are under his control; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Manager is also required by §1-2.17 of the Ordi- <br /> nance Code of the City of Pleasanton to recommend to the <br /> City Council such reorganization of offices, positions, <br /> departments or units under his direction as may be indi- <br /> cated in the interest of efficient, effective and economi- <br /> cal conduct of the City's business; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Manager in the past has presented to the City <br /> Council for City Council consideration and approval the <br /> establishment of a Department of Field Services which con- <br /> solidated functions previously performed by the Department <br /> <br /> of Public Works and the Recreation Department; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Manager recommended consolidation of the Depart- <br /> ments of Engineering, Planning~ and Building InspectiOn <br /> into one department known as the Department of <br /> <br /> Community Development and said reorganization was approved <br /> by the City Council; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the aforementioned consolidations were undertaken by the <br /> City Manager in order to increase the efficiency of the <br /> departments in question; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in order to carry out his mandate to increase the effici- <br /> ency, effectiveness and economical conduct of the func- <br /> <br />tioning of the City, the <br />operations of the Police <br />and <br /> <br />City Manager has looked at the <br /> <br />Department and Fire Department; <br /> <br /> <br />
