4 <br />THE CITY OF44 <br />~L~~S~NTON~ CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br />May 5, 2009 <br />Community Development <br />Traffic Engineering Division <br />TITLE: ADOPT RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AN APPLICATION TO THE <br />METROPOLITAN TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION FOR ALLOCATION <br />OF TRANSPORTATION DEVELOPMENT ACT (TDA) ARTICLE 3 FUNDS <br />FOR BICYCLE DETECTION EQUIPMENT AT SELECTED SIGNALIZED <br />INTERSECTIONS AND INSTALLATION OF BICYCLE RACKS AT CITY <br />FACILITIES <br />SUMMARY <br />The City of Pleasanton receives Transportation Development Act (TDA) Article 3 funds <br />from the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC). TDA funds are used to fund <br />pedestrian and bicycle related projects. The Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory <br />Committee recommended that the TDA Article 3 funds be used for the installation of <br />bicycle detection equipment at selected signalized intersections and for installation of <br />bicycle racks at several City facilities. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Adopt the attached resolution authorizing an <br />Transportation Commission (MTC) for $110,449 in <br />(TDA) Article 3 funds for the installation of bicycle <br />signalized intersections ($55,000) and installation <br />facilities ($55,449). <br />application to the Metropolitan <br />Transportation Development Act <br />detection equipment at selected <br />of bicycle racks at several City <br />FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br />There will be some additional maintenance costs to maintain the bicycle detection <br />equipment and make any needed repairs to the bicycle racks.
