<br />PLANNING COMMISSION CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br />ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br />RESOLUTION NO. PC-97-70 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION RECOMMENDING APPROY AL OF THE APPLICATION OF THE <br />CITY OF PLEASANTON FOR A PUD MODIFICATION, AS FILED UNDER CASE <br />PUD-85-15-9M <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the property owner's representative, Patrick Currin, submitted an application to <br />establish a special events center and caretaker's unit at the Bernal Adobe located at <br />1780 Foothill Road; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, at the March 12, 1997, Planning Commission meeting the Commission denied the <br />application due to the incompatibility of the proposed uses with the surrounding <br />residential neighbors and directed staff to return to the Commission with possible <br />use alternatives for the Bernal Adobe; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the applicant appealed the Planning Commission's decision to the City Council; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council heard the subject appeal at its meeting ofJune 17, 1997, and <br />during the hearing the applicant's representative withdrew the appeal and requested <br />that the City Council initiate a use change of the property to allow the Bernal <br />Adobe to be used as a private residence; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council agreed with Planning Commission's recommendation that various <br />alternatives for the use of the Bernal Adobe should be considered and directed <br />staff to initiate a use change which considered various alternatives; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, at its duly noticed public hearing of August 13, 1997, the Planning Commission <br />considered three alternative uses for the Bernal Adobe; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the proposed alternatives fall within the scope ofthe previously approved <br />environmental documentation for the site; therefore no environmental document <br />accompanies this report; and <br /> <br />------------------------...-- <br />
