<br /> AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ARTICLE 10 (PALMISTRY) CHAPTER
<br /> 2 (SPECIAL PERMITS) TITLE IV (HEALTH, SAFETY, MORAL
<br /> AND GENERAL WELFARE) OF THE ORDINANCE CODE OF THE
<br /> CITY OF PLEASANTON BY REPEALING'THE EXISTING ARTICLE
<br /> 10 (PALMISTRY) AND ADDING NEW ARTICLE 10 (FORTUNE-
<br /> TELLING).
<br />
<br />THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS
<br />FOLLOWS:
<br />
<br />Section 1. That Article 10 (Palmistry), Chapter 2 (Special
<br /> Permits), Title IV (Health, Safety, Moral, and General
<br /> Welfare) is hereby repealed in its entirety and the
<br /> new Article 10 (Fortune-Telling) is added as follows:
<br />

<br /> Fortune-Telling
<br />
<br /> ~4-4.17 Prohibition. No person shall engage in, carry
<br /> on, conduct, practice, exhibit, advertise, solicit,
<br /> or do any act of fortune-telling in the City of
<br /> Pleasanton.
<br />
<br /> ~4-4.18 Definition. Fortune-telling as used in this
<br /> Article means actually or purportedly to, or
<br /> pretending, assuming or undertaking to, or aiding,
<br /> helping or assisting another person to do a, b or c
<br /> below:
<br />
<br /> a. To persuade, induce or procure any person to
<br /> transfer, assign, convey, donate, devise,
<br /> bequeath, pledge, mortgage, or deposit any thing
<br /> of value; by means of astrology, augury, card
<br /> reading, clairaudience, clairvoyance, contacting
<br /> spirits, crystal gazing, divination, handwriting
<br /> or character reading, life reading, magic,
<br /> mediumship, necromancy, numerology, palmistry,
<br /> phrenology or the reading of .other anatomical
<br /> features, seership, or by any occult, mystical,
<br /> psychic or supernatural means, or by means
<br /> similar to these listed.
<br />
<br /> b. To foretell, foresee or influence a future act,
<br /> event, condition or situation; or to find or
<br /> restore a lost or hidden thing; or to change
<br /> or modify a physical, spiritual, emotional, or
<br /> social condition or problem; by means of
<br /> astrology, augury, card reading, clairaudience,
<br /> clairvoyance, contacting spirits, crystal
<br /> gazing, divination, handwriting or character
<br /> reading, life reading, magic, mediumship,
<br /> necromancy, numerology, palmistry, phrenology or
<br /> the reading of other anatomical features, seer-
<br /> ship, or by any occult, mystical, psychic or
<br /> supernatural means, or by means similar to these
<br />
