THE CITY OF <br />III m <br />pL €ASANTONC <br />CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br />TITLE: APPROVAL OF PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS, REVIEW OF BIDS AND <br />AWARD OF CONTRACT TO ROSAS BROTHERS CONSTRUCTION IN <br />THE AMOUNT OF $165,605 FOR ANNUAL SIDEWALK MAINTENANCE, <br />CIP NO. 085012 <br />SUMMARY <br />Bids have been received for the subject project and staff is recommending award of the <br />construction contract to the lowest responsible bidder, Rosas Brothers Construction, in <br />the amount of $165,605. The project consists of replacing damaged sidewalk, curb and <br />gutter; and constructing new access ramps at various locations throughout the City. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />1. Approve the plans and specifications for this project. <br />2. Review the bids received and award the contract for the project to Rosas <br />Brothers Construction, of Oakland, California, for the low bid amount of <br />$165,605. <br />3. Authorize the City Manager to enter into the project contract. <br />September 15, 2009 <br />Community Development <br />Engineering Division <br />4. Authorize the Director of Community Development to approve and execute any <br />required contract change orders to address unanticipated project conditions for a <br />not -to- exceed amount of $33,000 (approximately 20% of the contract). <br />FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br />This project will replace and upgrade existing infrastructure and should not increase <br />maintenance costs. The entire project will be funded with CIP No. 085012, Annual <br />Sidewalk Maintenance. A summary of funding sources and estimated expenditures is <br />presented in Attachment 3. <br />6 <br />
