THE CITY OF 16 <br /> CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> pL£ASANTON. <br /> July21, 2009 <br /> Parks and Community Services <br /> TITLE: APPROVE A CONSULTANT AGREEMENT WITH THOMAS BAAK AND <br /> ASSOCIATES IN THE AMOUNT OF $34,600, FOR DESIGN OF <br /> IMPROVEMENTS TO MEDIAN ISLAND LANDSCAPING AT STONERIDGE <br /> DRIVE, STONERIDGE MALL ROAD, AND SPRINGDALE AVENUE <br /> SUMMARY <br /> Staff is recommending the firm of Thomas Baak and Associates, LLP, of Walnut Creek <br /> for the preparation of schematic design and construction documents for the renovation <br /> of landscaping and irrigation systems in the roadway median islands on Stoneridge <br /> Drive (from Stoneridge Mall Road, west to Foothill Road), Stoneridge Mall Road (from <br /> Stoneridge Drive to Workday Way, formerly Fabian Court), and Springdale Avenue <br /> (from Stoneridge Drive, north to Stoneridge Mall Road). The proposed contract cost for <br /> all related design work is not -to- exceed $34,600. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> 1. Approve a Professional Services Contract with Thomas Baak and Associates, <br /> LLP, to provide design services for the subject project. <br /> 2. Authorize the City Manager to execute the attached agreement. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> The cost for this proposed work is for the not -to- exceed amount of $34,600. Funding for <br /> this project is available and budgeted in the Park Renovation Fund. The proposed <br /> landscape architectural design work would address improvements to the planting and <br /> irrigation systems for median islands on portions of Stoneridge Drive, Stoneridge Mall <br /> Road and Springdale Avenue, and likely result in decreased maintenance and repair <br /> costs for the Parks Maintenance Division. <br />
