CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br />ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 81-287 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING AN AFFORDABLE ttOUSING <br />COMPETITION FOR THE CITY OF PLEASANTON FOR <br />1981-82 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the City Council of the City of Pleasanton has <br />indicated strong concern regarding the lack of new <br />affordable housing being constructed in the city; md <br /> <br />WHEREAS <br /> <br />the Pleasanton Chamber of Commerce volunteered to assist <br />the city in studying theways that the city could encourage <br />development of affordable housing; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Chamber prepared a report on affordable housing <br /> dated July 8, 1981; and <br /> <br />~FHEREAS <br /> <br />the Chamber, city staff and the City Council have, <br />through workshops and discussions, concluded that a <br />model program providing for a competition with the <br />goal of achieving approximately 200 affordable housing <br />units is one way to encourage the development of <br />affordable housing; and <br /> <br />~atEREAS, <br /> <br />the City Council believes this should be viewed as an <br />experiment which, if successful,could be repeated in <br />the future; and <br /> <br />W~EREAS, <br /> <br />submittal requirements, the modification of several <br />existing land use procedures and the development of <br />guidelines for carrying out the program are necessary. <br /> <br />NOW, TItEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF TIlE CITY OF PLEASANTON RESOLVES <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: There shall be established in the City of Pleasanton <br /> a model competition to encourage the development of <br /> affordable housing during fiscal year 1981-82. <br /> <br />Section 2: Procedures. The following procedures shall be used <br /> for the 1981-82 competition. <br /> <br />The City Council will select on a competitive basis <br />approximately 200 units of affordable housing for <br />which an exemption from any then existing growth <br />management limitation will be granted. <br /> <br />The selection of the exempt project(s) shall be in <br />two stages. The City Council will initially screen <br />all projects in the competition. Those projects <br />initially selected as meeting the Council's criteria <br /> <br /> <br />
