CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br />ALAJIDA CCUNTY, CALIFORIIIA <br /> <br />PjZSOLUTIOI] NO. 82-263 <br /> <br />APPROVING THE I~OSITION OF A LOCAL ~TOR <br />VEHICLE FUEL T~I <br /> <br />W}tEP~AS, <br /> <br />Senate Bill 215 (Chapter 541, statutes of 1981) <br />authorizes a county to impose a motor vehicle fuel <br />tax on a countywide basis; and <br /> <br />I~IEREAS, this additional imposition may be made only if: <br /> <br />(1) The imposition is approved by the voters <br /> at an election, and <br /> <br />(2) <br /> <br />The proposition is approved by the Board of <br />Supervisors and a majority of the city councils <br />of the cities having a majority of the population <br />in the incorporated areas of the county, and <br /> <br />(3) <br /> <br />The county and the cities within the county have <br />a written agreement with respect to the allocation <br />of the revenues between the county and the cities; <br />and <br /> <br />~alEREAS , <br /> <br />the imposition of a local motor vehicle fuel tax <br />is essential in order for the city to be able to <br />obtain funds sufficient for the maintenance and <br />repair of its public streets and rights-of-way; <br />and <br /> <br />WIIEREAS, <br /> <br />at its meeting of July 13, 1982, Council adopted <br />Resolution 82-253 authorizing the county to impose <br />a motor vehicle fuel tax, however, that resolution <br />did not contain the proposed ballot language and it <br />is therefore necessary to rescind that resolution in <br />favor of this revised resolution; <br /> <br />HOW, TIIEREFOPi, THE CITY COUNCIL OF TEE CITY OF PLF~.SAIITON <br />RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: The Pleasanton City Council approves the imposition <br /> of a proposed 5-cent per gallon or per 100 cubic feet <br /> of compressed natural gas local motor vehicle fuel <br /> tax within the County of Alameda, and the wording of <br /> the ballot proposition in substantially the form of <br /> the attached Exhibit A, subject to meeting the require- <br /> ments of 1, 2, and 3, above. <br /> <br /> <br />
