13.3 <br /> <br />Sick Leave Increments <br /> <br />Charge for sick leave used shall be on the basis of one <br />(1) hour for each hour used in increments of twenty-four <br />(24) hours for employees assigned to a 24-hour duty <br />schedule; provided, however, that: <br /> <br />(1) <br /> <br />If an employee reports for duty before 12:00 Noon <br />on the second or any subsequent consecutive on-duty <br />day after an illness with a written statement from <br />a person licensed to practice medicine or dentistry <br />orr <br /> <br />(2) <br /> <br />If an employee becomes ill while on the job and must <br />leave before the end of his/her shift, sick leave <br />shall be charged for only those hours when the <br />employee was absent from work. <br /> <br />Section 14. Leaves of Absence <br /> <br />14.1 <br /> <br />Leave of Absence Without Pay <br /> <br />The appointing authority may grant a full-time employee <br />leave of absence without pay or seniority for not ~o <br />exceed three (3) months. No such leave shall be granted <br />except in writing and upon written request of the employee <br />setting forth the reason therefor. Upon expiration of a <br />regularly approved leave the employee shall be reinstated <br />in the position held at the time leave was granted. <br />Failure on the part of an employee on leave to report <br />promptly at its expiration or within a reasonable ~ime <br />after notice to return to duty shall be cause for dis- <br />cipline. The Fire Chief may grant a full-time employee <br />leave of absence without pay for not to exceed one (1) <br />calendar week. Such leaves shall be reported to the <br />Personnel Officer. <br /> <br />14.2 <br /> <br />Jury Leave <br /> <br />Every e~ployee of the City who is called or required to <br />serve as a juror shall be entitled to leave from his/her <br />duties with the City during the period of such service or <br />while necessarily being present in court as a result of <br />such call.
