13.3 Sick Leave Increments Charge for sick leave used shall be on the basis of one (1) hour for each hour used in increments of twenty-four (24) hours for employees assigned to a 24-hour duty schedule; provided, however, that: (1) If an employee reports for duty before 12:00 Noon on the second or any subsequent consecutive on-duty day after an illness with a written statement from a person licensed to practice medicine or dentistry orr (2) If an employee becomes ill while on the job and must leave before the end of his/her shift, sick leave shall be charged for only those hours when the employee was absent from work. Section 14. Leaves of Absence 14.1 Leave of Absence Without Pay The appointing authority may grant a full-time employee leave of absence without pay or seniority for not ~o exceed three (3) months. No such leave shall be granted except in writing and upon written request of the employee setting forth the reason therefor. Upon expiration of a regularly approved leave the employee shall be reinstated in the position held at the time leave was granted. Failure on the part of an employee on leave to report promptly at its expiration or within a reasonable ~ime after notice to return to duty shall be cause for dis- cipline. The Fire Chief may grant a full-time employee leave of absence without pay for not to exceed one (1) calendar week. Such leaves shall be reported to the Personnel Officer. 14.2 Jury Leave Every e~ployee of the City who is called or required to serve as a juror shall be entitled to leave from his/her duties with the City during the period of such service or while necessarily being present in court as a result of such call.
