Policy 8

...to insure that 13% of the total housing
stock at full development is devoted to the
needs of lower income households.*

*(Lower~income households are those earning 80% or less
of the Bay Area median household income.)

Using the 1970 Census, it was established that approximately 13%
of Pleasanton's then resident households would have qualified for
federal housing assistance. Using this figure, the 1976 General
Plan Housing Element established as a goal that 13% of the total
housing stock should be of the type that would meet lower
income housing needs. It is assumed that such housing would
be made up of both traditional less expensive market rate
housing and housing that is to a greater or lesser extent subr
sidized by some level of government. The following implemen-
tation programs offer several means to help accomplish this goal.

Implementation Program 1: To seek state and federal
assistance for the development of housing to meet
lower income housing needs.

-15-
