CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br />ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 83-282 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION APPROVING RETENTION PERIODS FOR <br />VARIOUS CITY RECORDS <br /> <br />WHEREAS <br /> <br />in order to manage the ever increasing volume of <br />files and paperwork accumulated in the daily <br />operation of a municipal government, it is necessary <br />to periodically destroy obsolete records; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS <br /> <br />a list of record titles and suggested retention <br />periods has been prepared and reviewed by all <br />department heads; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS <br /> <br />at its meeting of July 26, 1983, the City Council <br />reviewed the proposed retention Deriods; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section <br /> <br />1: Approves the retention periods for the record <br /> titles as set forth in Exhibit "A" which is attached <br /> hereto and incorporated herein by this reference. <br /> <br />Section 2: At the expiration of the designated retention <br /> periods, those records due for destruction may be <br /> destroyed. <br /> <br />Section 3: In the event the City Attorney deems it appropriate <br /> records may be destroyed prior to expiration of the <br /> retention period pursuant to Resolution No. 82-451. <br /> <br />Section 4: This resolution shall become effective immediately <br /> upon its passage and adoption. <br /> <br />THIS RESOLUTION ADOPTED JULY 26, 1983 BY THE FOLLOWING VOTE: <br /> <br />AYES: Councilmembers - Mercer, Mohr, Wood and Mayor Butler <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Councilmember Brandes <br /> <br />~y Doris George, Deputy City Clerk R B <br /> <br />Peter D. MacDonald, City Attorney <br /> <br /> <br />
