( ( TASK 5: INTEGRATION OF COMMUTER BUS PLAN INTO OVERALL TRANSIT PLAN It i s anticipated that the recommended Pleasanton transit route system will involve some combination of the previously recommended community-oriented routes and the commuter-oriented transit routes defined in this study. The combination could, for example, consist of the community routes over the day with supplemental commuter routes overlaid during commute periods. Alternatively, best features of the commuter routes and community routes could be combined into a hybrid system. Yet another alternative would be to use general community routes during the off-peak period and the commuter routes during peak periods. These various concepts will be explored with staff in order to develop a preferred alternative. Operating characteristics will be estimated for this system as described above. If additional funding beyond that anticipated to be available from TDA sources is required to operate the combined system, the funding shortfall will be identified. If the combined system involves any significant changes to the service plan or connections with service within Dublin or Livemore, these changes will be discussed with staff from those cities. The product of this task will be a revised transit service plan for the Pleasanton area that responds to commuter needs to the extent possible. This plan will be described and evaluated in a manner consist with the previously recommended plan. Approval of the transit staff committee will be sought prior to presentation of the findings to City Council members. TASK 6: REVIEW REVISED PLAN WITH CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS The revised plan will be presented to the Pleasanton City Council at a regular Council meeting or a Public Workshop. It is assumed that this meeting will be organized by City staff. The purpose of the presentation will be to explain the process and rationale behind the preferred plan, and to solicit Council and public feedback prior to plan detailing. Feedback from these meetings will be discussed with staff and, based on this, appropriate changes to the preferred plan will be made.
