THE CITY OF 1 5
CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
pL£ASANTON.
June 2, 2009
Operation Services Department
TITLE: APPROVE A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
PARTICIPATE IN A COST SHARING AGREEMENT WITH
STOPWASTE.ORG FOR THE PROPOSED GREEN PACKAGES
PROJECT
SUMMARY
Stopwaste.org is seeking the support of Alameda County cities to contribute
approximately four percent (4 of their Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block
Grant stimulus money to a county -wide program known as Green Packages. One of
the primary purposes of pooling resources is to provide an opportunity for Alameda
County to leverage these funds to acquire additional competitive grants. Staff is
requesting City Council authorization to allow the City Manager to participate in a cost
sharing agreement with Stopwaste.Org.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council adopt the attached resolution authorizing the
City Manager to participate in a cost sharing agreement with Stopwaste.Org for the
proposed Green Packages project, subject to obtaining the Energy Efficiency and
Conservation Block Grant.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT
Participation in the Green Packages project will not impact the General Fund.
Pleasanton's fair -share contribution would be entirely funded by the Energy Efficiency
and Conservation Block Grant (stimulus funding).
