Fire <br /> 6. Public Hearing: Adopted Resolution No. 09 277 approving the 2009 Weed Abatement <br /> Program and authorizing the abatement of weeds, rubbish, and refuse on the various <br /> properties and order that the weeds be abated <br /> MOTION: It was m/s by Cook Kallio /Thorne to approve Consent Calendar as submitted and as <br /> noted. Motion passed by the following vote: <br /> Ayes: Councilmembers Cook Kallio, McGovern, Sullivan, Thorne, Mayor Hosterman <br /> Noes: None <br /> Absent: None <br /> MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC <br /> 7. Presentation of proclamation proclaiming April 27 May 2 "Week of the Young Child" <br /> Vice Mayor Cook Kallio read and presented the proclamation to Gingerbread Preschool, Board <br /> President, Heidi Bailey. She discussed their participation in an Art Auction, with food proceeds <br /> going to Tri- Valley Haven, noted their Ice Cream Social will be held on May 2 from 1 -3 PM, as well <br /> as a dedication ceremony for the new preschool and playground. She presented the Council with a <br /> copy of a book and a hippo. <br /> 8. Presentation of proclamation proclaiming April 30 "Paint Our Town Purple Day" <br /> Vice Mayor Cook Kallio read and presented the Campaign Chairperson, Angela Pinty who <br /> discussed the event's decoration of businesses, light poles which will be up until May 4 to bring <br /> attention to the 4 Annual Relay for Life. <br /> 9. Oaths of Office to newly appointed Committee and Commission Members <br /> Mayor Hosterman presented plaques to departing members, recognized those members who could <br /> not attend, and welcomed 13 newly appointed Committee and Commissioner Members who were <br /> then sworn in by the City Clerk. <br /> 10. Public Comment <br /> Kathy Dowding asked everybody to join her in remembrance of 16 soldiers killed in Iraq and <br /> Afghanistan since the last City Council meeting and attend their next monthly peace vigil, <br /> Wednesday, May 13 at 7PM at the Museum on Main Street. <br /> Fred Norman thanked City Commissioners for their work, questioned if there were any guidelines to <br /> follow in addressing his request of the City Council to support and defend the Constitution. <br /> John Loll announced the Second Annual Gala celebration to benefit the Fire House Arts Theater on <br /> Saturday, May 16 at the Castlewood Country Club, and provided a brief update on the project. <br /> Debbie Look spoke in support of School District Measure G on the June 2 ballot and requested <br /> the Council endorse the measure. <br /> City Council Minutes Page 2 of 20 April 21, 2009 <br />
