Pleasanton has been at the capacity of <br />six clients for over a year. <br />Tom Morelli, REACH (Acquisition of housing for developmentally disabled adults) <br />No representative attended the meeting. Mr. Hrickson advised that the REACH <br />application was for timds to help with the purchase of a tifth home in Pleasanton. <br />REACH has also indicated that they would like to come back for a similar funding <br />request next year. <br />Commissioner Stark expressed his concern that the agency focus additional efforts on <br />fundraising and leveraging additional funds and referred to the recent allocation of <br />I-TOMB funds that had been made to purchase the below-market priced home on the <br />Bernal property. FIe also questioned whether the agency had submitted an application for <br />funds to the [Taman Services Commission. <br />Marv Rose Parkman/Christine and John Brogan, Community [[ousin~ Consortium <br />(Ilousing Rehab Program) <br />The Commission was provided information about the agency and application by Ms. <br />Parkman. Mr. & Mrs. Brogan provided details of their knowledge and experience in <br />providing housing rehab inspection services. Ms. Parkham discussed her grant writing <br />and fundraising abilities, the limited resources in the CDBU program, and the increased <br />need for housing in the area because of economic difficulties. <br />Commissioner Stark questioned whether funds had been requested from other "fri-Valley <br />Cities and was informed that requests had been made in Alameda, Contra Costa, and <br />Fremont, as well as other Tri-Valley cities. <br />Chairperson Casey closed the public hearing 7:50 p.m. <br />Final comments provided by Mr. Erickson included information about: l) the staff <br />recommendation; 2) the use of 20% of CDBG funds for administrative expenses; and 3) <br />the recommendation to fund housing services through the Cily's Lower Income I lousing <br />h'und. <br />Commissioner Stark was provided information by staff about the current balance in the <br />Lower Income Housing Lund and uncommitted federal HOME Cunds and how some of <br />these funds are targeted for specific projects. <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Harris recommending approval of the fimding <br />requests as outlined in staff s recommendation.
