with the cities of Dublin and Livermore to share ideas and resources on reaching all populations; <br />and completed the local update of census addresses resulting in approximately 2600 changes. <br />Ms. Stern reviewed the upcoming work which is anticipated to focus on identifying individuals, <br />organizations, and other avenues of disseminating information including advertisement on the City's <br />website, public buildings, and utility bills. The Census Bureau and partnership specialists will help <br />with technical assistance and has asked for help in securing a location to house their questionnaire <br />assistance center. <br />Staff is asking the City Council to adopt the resolution declaring the City's support of the 2010 <br />census and its commitment to partner with the Census Bureau to achieve a complete and accurate <br />count of Pleasanton residents. <br />Mayor Hosterman asked what needs the Pleasanton field office will serve during this time. Ms. <br />Stern said it will serve more than Pleasanton as a command center for the coordination of field <br />workers and training classes that serve the entire area. <br />Councilmember Sullivan confirmed that the 2,600 address changes are changes made since the <br />last census. Ms. Stern added that the total is comprised of changes in terms of original accuracy, <br />relocation, and new development. <br />Councilmember Sullivan asked if the 1,500 new addresses represent units that have been built in <br />the last ten years. Ms. Stern confirmed but added that some of those may be units that had dropped <br />off of previous census lists. <br />Mayor Hosterman opened the public hearing. There were no public speakers and she then closed <br />the public hearing. <br />Motion: It was m/s by Sullivan/Cook-Kallio to adopt the resolution affirming support of and <br />partnership with the 2010 Census and receive a report regarding 2010 Census activities.
