Youth & Government Day
Evaluation Summary
Unedited
1. Did you find participation in YIG assisted in your understanding of
governance issues in the city and school district?
• The PM discussion group inspired me to include others in the involvement of the
city, and also for me to get involved because working with high ranked city
officials and children is what I love to do.
• It was very interesting to see how things work behind the scenes
• I learned about issues and new programs our city wants to put into place
• It was really fun and it is good to know that the city has interest in our input
• The YIG program is great and well done
• This helped me get a better understanding of the day to day procedures
• It's a great program and it was very useful. I learned a lot about the schools and
the city of Pleasanton
• This is a great program. I really loved going through the day following Gary
Hicklin
• I learned a lot about how the government works
• I learned about how the economy is affecting the school district
• There are more that goes into each city job than I would have ever thought. I
grew a better appreciation for how much city workers do for us
• It was very fun
• I wish I could have spent more time visiting school with my shadow rather than
being on CTV 30 interview (wish it could have been more interactive)
• I really enjoyed the job shadowing and it gave me an interest in school
administration
• I enjoyed being exposed to the behind the scenes way of life in the community
• I want to be a Susan Andrade-Wax
• It was a good experience which allowed me to better understand what the city
does
• Mr. Ott was able to show us more than just school related things - he showed
how to integrate multiple passions in work and hobbies -great shadow!
• I understood the definition of jobs past just their title. I also learned about
problems, concerns and decisions our city is faced with
• Well, the person I followed was not immediately in the main light of school district
issues, but she is involved in almost every aspect -help all parts of the district
• I think this was great for students to get involved and to feel a part of something. I
loved it. I think the teens should be more involved and I think there should be
more activities in Pleasanton
• It was awesome participating in the meeting with the mayor and council members
