Public Comment <br />Dan Calic introduced his non-profit foundation, Doing Unto Others -Doing Deeds By Filling <br />Needs, discussed the foundation's approach to helping local Tri-Valley schools by acting as a <br />proactive grant maker, and said schools will have the opportunity to create grant requests for <br />everything from classroom supplies to additional staff while in turn volunteering to perform a <br />community outreach project. He discussed community outreach, press interest, provided the <br />Council with detailed packets and asked for their assistance in establishing local business <br />contacts. <br />Fred Norman referred to Pleasanton's Oath of Office, questioned rules and guidelines supplied <br />to facilitate the oath, and suggested a written protocol to guide those who take the oath of office <br />in doing what they have sworn to do. <br />Kathy Dowding read the names of the 8 soldiers who most recently died in Iraq <br />PUBLIC HEARINGS AND OTHER MATTERS <br />10. Public Hearing: PSP-11 and PRZ-44, Stoneridge Drive Specific Plan Amendment/Staples <br />Ranch Project: Consider approval of Staples Ranch Development related documents <br />including the Environmental Impact Report (EIR), Environmental Findings, Statement of <br />Overriding Considerations, Mitigation Monitoring and Reporting Plan, the Stoneridge Drive <br />Specific Plan Amendment (Staples Ranch Project), Rezoning/Pre-zoning of Staples Ranch <br />Property to the Planned Unit Development (PUD) District. <br />Assistant City Manager Steven Bocian briefly reviewed the action items recommended by staff, <br />the project's guiding documents and noted that the Council will also hear matter pertaining to <br />updates on the Stoneridge Drive expansion. <br />He reported that the site's Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) provided for development of <br />the 124 acres into a continuing care community, auto mall for the relocation of Hendricks <br />Automotive, future commercial site, a 17-acre community park, and a 5-acre auto mall option. <br />This past summer, the Council approved the Staples Ranch Community Park Master Plan that <br />City Council Minutes Page 2 of 15 February 3, 2009 <br />
