Public Comment Dan Calic introduced his non-profit foundation, Doing Unto Others -Doing Deeds By Filling Needs, discussed the foundation's approach to helping local Tri-Valley schools by acting as a proactive grant maker, and said schools will have the opportunity to create grant requests for everything from classroom supplies to additional staff while in turn volunteering to perform a community outreach project. He discussed community outreach, press interest, provided the Council with detailed packets and asked for their assistance in establishing local business contacts. Fred Norman referred to Pleasanton's Oath of Office, questioned rules and guidelines supplied to facilitate the oath, and suggested a written protocol to guide those who take the oath of office in doing what they have sworn to do. Kathy Dowding read the names of the 8 soldiers who most recently died in Iraq PUBLIC HEARINGS AND OTHER MATTERS 10. Public Hearing: PSP-11 and PRZ-44, Stoneridge Drive Specific Plan Amendment/Staples Ranch Project: Consider approval of Staples Ranch Development related documents including the Environmental Impact Report (EIR), Environmental Findings, Statement of Overriding Considerations, Mitigation Monitoring and Reporting Plan, the Stoneridge Drive Specific Plan Amendment (Staples Ranch Project), Rezoning/Pre-zoning of Staples Ranch Property to the Planned Unit Development (PUD) District. Assistant City Manager Steven Bocian briefly reviewed the action items recommended by staff, the project's guiding documents and noted that the Council will also hear matter pertaining to updates on the Stoneridge Drive expansion. He reported that the site's Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) provided for development of the 124 acres into a continuing care community, auto mall for the relocation of Hendricks Automotive, future commercial site, a 17-acre community park, and a 5-acre auto mall option.
