As the father of 3 young children and coach to several others, I must reiterate how we
desperately need this ice facility to keep our children active in sports, and remain in Pleasanton. Many of our
children are now forced to play in San ,dose or Freernont, because the facility in Dublin is just not adequate. And
no facility in Pleasanton is an embarrassment when we compare our city to San Jose, Freemont and several
other smeller cities in the area with great sports facilities.
The businesses in Pleasanton certainly will all gain from this project, as it not only attracts people from the
neighboring cities to come to Pleasanton and engage in business while they are here, but also
to keep Pleasanton residents shopping and playing in Pleasanton.
I was astounded that once again, this project has been delayed after the town council meeting last night. once
again, Councilman Matt Sullivan is helping to transform Pleasanton into the City of No Progress, as we have
dragged this project on for nearly 4 years. Several restaurants and businesses in downtown
Pleasanton have been hurt because of this, and in this economy how can we afford to lose such a great
investment opportunity in our city! This makes no sense to me, and once we have lost the Sharks we will all
reflect on how incredible this opportunity would have been. But it will be too late.
Last night* Councilman Sullivan invoked his right to request a continuation of the agenda for 3 more weeks to
allow more input from citizens. He claimed the general public was not adequately notified that the extension of
211012009
