Community Facilities <br /> <br /> Valley Memorial Hospital, with a llO-bed capacity, is located five miles <br />east of Pleasanton in the City of Livermore. Valley Memorial also administers <br />the Family Medical Center in San Ramon. There are 38 physicians/surgeons, 30 <br />dentists, 5 optometrists and 5 chiropractors practicing in Pleasanton. <br /> <br /> Pleasanton has 16 churches of various denominations, one library and three <br />local newspapers. Financial institutions include 5 banks and 7 savings and <br />loan associations. Radio station KKIQ in Livermore and three TV channels are <br />received direct at Pleasanton. There is also a TV cable system in the City. <br /> <br />Recreation <br /> <br /> The Alameda County Fairgrounds, which are located in the center of the <br />City have a race track, grandstand, skating rink and amphitheatre. The County <br />Fair is held each July; the facilities are used for the rest of the year by <br />various organizations. <br /> <br /> Twenty-one municipal parks include playing fields, pools, tennis courts, <br />playgrounds, meeting rooms and facilities for arts and crafts classes. Other <br />recreational facilities include a roller skating rink, a nine-hole golf <br />course, Rapids Water Slide, and a Fitness Trail. Shadow Cliffs Regional Park, <br />which adjoins the City's eastern boundary includes a sandy beach and <br />facilities for swimming, boating and fishing. It is operated by the East Bay <br />Regional Park District. Two private health clubs - Amador Valley Athletic <br />Club and Schoeber's Racquetball Spa provide modern facilities for racquetball, <br />tennis, swimming, basketball, and offer a variety of classes and social <br />activities. Eighteen-hole golf courses in the City are found at Castlewood <br />Country Club, Sunol Golf Club and Pleasanton Fairways.
