income), exceeding the requirements of the City's Inclusionary Housing Ordinance in <br />both number of units and level of affordability-and 13,566 square feet of attached retail <br />area and space for use by the Pleasanton and BART Police departments. The project's <br />location near a future BART station and bus stop, Stoneridge Mall, and several large <br />office complexes meets the City's General Plan policies that call for locating high- <br />density housing near public transit, major thoroughfares, shopping, and employment <br />centers and that promote mixed-use or transit-oriented development near BART <br />stations. As well, the development will incorporate green building measures such that it <br />complies with the City's Green Building Ordinance. <br />Dublin Canyon Road <br />In 2008, the Crowne Plaza Hotel was renovated and reopened under new ownership as <br />the Marriott Pleasanton. Safeway purchased 12 acres with a 143,000 square foot <br />building formerly occupied by Farmers Insurance, on which it has proposed to add a <br />four story, 110,000 square foot office building along with a four story parking structure. <br />On the vacant parcel on the corner of Dublin Canyon and Foothill Roads, Hana Japan <br />has submitted an application to build a 12,000 square foot building with first floor <br />restaurant and second story corporate office/meeting space. <br />Rose Pavilion <br />Golfsmith <br />The new owner of the Rose Pavilion, Centro Properties, has begun a program to <br />upgrade the shopping center. The first of the those efforts opened a Golfsmith in the <br />30,000 square foot building constructed for but subsequently not occupied by Broyhill; <br />the super store includes an indoor driving range and putting green, and full-size tennis <br />court. <br />Fresh & Easv <br />A 15,000 square foot neighborhood grocery store-Fresh & Easy-has received <br />approval to locate in the space currently occupied by Express Fitness gym (the gym will <br />be relocated within the shopping center). <br />Additionally, the City has received applications for both Panera Bread and Panda <br />Express restaurants to be opened within Rose Pavilion. Staff is currently working with <br />the business and shopping center owners to process these submittals. As well, the <br />shopping center owner is actively soliciting for a new tenant for the retail space vacated <br />by the Levitz furniture store. <br />Staples Ranch <br />Pleasanton Auto Mall <br />Hendrick Automotive is working with City staff to finalize its PUD application for the <br />relocation of the Pleasanton Auto Mall from its existing Rosewood Drive location.
