<br />THE CITY OF <br />,,, <br />PL£~S~4NTONo <br />CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br />January 20, 2009 <br />Parks and Community Services Department <br />TITLE: APPROVAL OF A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF PLEASANTON, IN SUPPORT OF "GOT ASSETS? YOUTH AND <br />ADULTS UNITED FOR A HEALTHY COMMUNITY INITIATIVE" <br />SUMMARY <br />The Pleasanton Unified School District developed the 40 Developmental Assets Task <br />Force to support, promote, and link the asset building efforts of the schools, families, <br />and community to promote positive youth development in Pleasanton. The Task Force <br />is comprised of representatives from the School District, City of Pleasanton, Tri-Valley <br />YMCA and youth and adult community members. <br />Through this collaborative effort, Task Force agencies and community members are <br />actively participating in the Assets Initiative, by providing training for youth, parents and <br />staff, Summer Youth Summits, Club 40, YMCA Leadership Academy, and the City's <br />Youth in Government Day. <br />The Parks and Community Services Department is committed to supporting the 40 <br />Developmental Assets by intertwining the assets' values throughout its community <br />based programs and services. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Adopt the resolution in support of the "Got Assets? Youth and Adults United For A <br />Healthy Community Initiative." <br />FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br />No financial impact. <br />
