7 <br />THE CITY OF <br />CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br />j~L£~S~4NTONo <br />January 20, 2009 <br />Community Development <br />Engineering Division <br />TITLE: ACCEPTANCE OF PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS PERFORMED BY NORTH <br />VALLEY CONSTRUCTION FOR ANNUAL CURB AND GUTTER <br />REPLACEMENTS FOR STREET RESURFACING, CIP NO. 075009 <br />SUMMARY <br />The subject project consisted of the removal and replacement of damaged curb, gutter, <br />sidewalk and driveway, the installation of access ramps on streets scheduled for <br />resurfacing, and the installation of detectable warning surfaces to existing access ramps <br />in order to comply with current ADA regulations. The objective of this project is to <br />improve drainage and pedestrian safety. Construction of the subject project is complete <br />and is ready for acceptance. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />1. Accept the improvements for this project. <br />2. Authorize the City Clerk to file a Notice of Completion for the subject project. <br />3. Authorize payment of the retention in the amount of $21,791.99 to North Valley <br />Construction thirty days after recordation of the Notice of Completion. <br />4. Authorize the City Manager to transfer the remaining project balance of $29,719.10 <br />from the subject project, CIP No. 075009 (Annual Curb and Gutter Replacements) <br />to CIP No. 085003 (Annual Resurfacing of Various Streets). <br />FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br />The replacement of the damaged curb, gutter, and sidewalk will result in a decrease in <br />maintenance costs associated with the ongoing repairs for these areas. <br />
