proposals comprised of statements of qualifications and proposed scopes of work from
four qualified consultants: Darryl Alexander and Associates, Engeo Inc., MacKay &
Somps and BKF Engineers. Following a document review of the proposals to assess
the qualifications and experience of the proposed project team, as well as the overall
quality of the firms in terms of their ability to perform the work, all four firms were invited
to the interview process. MacKay &Somps was considered by the City team, which
included the City Engineer and the City Landscape Architect, to be best qualified to
design the parking lot and conduct the master hydro-modification study.
It is recommended that City Council authorize the City Manager to enter into the
attached consultant contract with MacKay &Somps for the design of the transportation
corridor parking lot and master hydro-modification study.
There are sufficient funds in the Firehouse Arts Center project, CIP No. 038011 for the
design phase of this project. The construction phase of the project is anticipated to
begin in June 2009 and a CIP budget will be created once an estimate for the
construction cost of parking lot is available.
Submitted by:
Fiscal Review:
Approv d by:
Nelson Fialho
City Manager
.~-- u~ J z---
lie Yua iu David P.
