October 8, 2008
RICHARD CARSON Mike Fulford
& ASSOCIATES City Landscape Architect
City of Pleasanton
`"~"°"`"" ° "`"ATE"°RE 200 Old Bernal Ave.
^"° Pleasanton, CA 94566
PLANNI"c
Dear Mike,
a
~ Thank you once again for the opportunity to work with you and the City of
Pleasanton on the final Master Plan for Lions Wayside and DeLucchi Parks.
+."+ On behalf of our project team, I approach this project with great enthusiasm
and eager anticipation.
129 Noun Darve
Pie°"°~~,, cn 94610 A decade ago, when we began our discussions about improving Wayside Park, the
Fn, sio ssz oziz City's visionary approach to long-range planning led to a comprehensive schematic
design for this downtown crossroads location. This very preliminary design was
rE~ sio esz 4as6 part of the Master Plan for the Downtown Parks & Trails System (DPTS), which
^ was prepared in the context of seven other interrelated sites in the downtown area.
It grew out of a high level of citizen involvement, guided by a dedicated citizen's
Task Force, and became possible as a result of dozens of meetings and the efforts
and voices of countless individuals. Thar work will provide the basic principles
for our work on this next phase, the final Master Plan for Lions Wayside and
DeLucchi Parks.
Today, as construction begins on the Firehouse Arts Center (also a key component
of the DPTS), we can imagine looking through the building's lobby to its plaza,
and the sweeping views of the park's broad lawns, tall trees, and new bandstand.
Lions Wayside and DeLucchi Parks hold great promise as important parts of
Pleasanton's future downtown activity.
Having worked on projects in Pleasanton for over 25 years, I am especially interested
and grateful to talk with you about our proposal for the final Master Plan for Lions
Wayside &DeLucchi Parks. I look forward to continuing this process of bringing
the City's long-range vision closer to reality.
Thank you very much.
Sincerely,
Richard Larson
encl.
