THE CITY OF
-.. ~
[~L£~S~4NTONo
CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
December 16, 2008
Parks and Community Services
TITLE: APPROVE CONSULTANT AGREEMENT WITH RICHARD CARSON &
ASSOCIATES, LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTS, FOR PREPARATION OF A
MASTER PLAN FOR LIONS WAYSIDE AND DELUCCHI PARKS,
PROJECT NO. 067016
SUMMARY
With the construction of the Firehouse Arts Center now underway, and the City's recent
acquisition of the Regional Trail Corridor from Alameda County, the development of a
Master Plan for Lions Wayside and Delucchi parks is a logical next step.
Staff has successfully negotiated a design agreement with the firm of Richard Larson &
Associates, Landscape Architects of Piedmont, to prepare a formal Master Plan for
Lions Wayside and Delucchi parks. Under the terms of this Agreement, the Consultant
would begin work immediately, and complete the required design work by September 1,
2009. Total cost for all design and reimbursable expenses is not to exceed $78,000.
RECOMMENDATION
Approve a Consultant Agreement with the firm of Richard Larson & Associates to
provide design services for the subject project, at a cost not to exceed $78,000;
authorize the City Manager to execute the attached Agreement.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT
This project (CIP 067016) has a current fund balance of $250,000. This amount is
sufficient to fund the entire Master Plan design effort. Upon its completion, the Council
will be asked to review and approve the Master Plan. Prior to moving forward with the
preparation of construction documents, staff will return to the Council with
12
recommendations for the required design and construction funding.
