1 <br />MINUTES <br />CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />December 2, 2008 <br />CALL TO ORDER <br />Mayor Hosterman called the regular meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. and the Rattlesnakes Cub <br />Scouts led in the Pledge of Allegiance. <br />ROLL CALL <br />Present: Councilmembers Cook-Kallio, McGovern, Sullivan, Thorne, Mayor Hosterman <br />Absent: None <br />SPECIAL ITEMS <br />1. Adopt a Resolution Declaring the Results of the November 4, 2008 General Municipal <br />Election <br />City Clerk Karen Diaz reported that the November 4, 2008 General Municipal Election was held <br />for the purposes of electing a Mayor and two members of the City Council, as well as voting on <br />two ballot measures. The Registrar of Voters has completed their official canvass and has <br />certified the results to show Jennifer Hosterman re-elected Mayor; Cindy McGovern and Matt <br />Sullivan elected to the City Council; and both Measures PP and QQ passing. Staff <br />recommends the City Council adopt the resolution declaring the results of the election. <br />Motion: It was m/s by Cook-Kallio/Thorne to adopt Resolution No. 08-245 Declaring the <br />Results of the November 4, 2008 General Municipal Election. Motion passed by the following <br />vote: <br />Ayes: Councilmembers Cook-Kallio, McGovern, Sullivan, Thorne, Mayor Hosterman <br />Noes: None <br />Absent: None <br />OATHS OF OFFICE <br />City Clerk Diaz adminiseted Oaths of Office to Mayor-elect Hosterman and Councilmembers- <br />elect McGovern and Sullivan. <br />REMARKS <br />Mayor Hosterman congratulated her colleagues on their re-election to the City Council, felt this <br />was a strong message affirming the work of the Council, thanked her family members and <br />supporters, and said she will work hard in the coming year to represent the interests of all <br />residents of Pleasanton and work to improve the economic conditions of the City. <br />Councilmember McGovern thanked her family and friends for their love and support during her <br />campaign, said she will do all she can for the community and to keep Pleasanton what it is <br />today. She also thanked her supporters over the last 14 years for their advice and <br />enlightenment. She thanked staff for providing her with information and advice which <br />contributed toward her decision-making, and recognized Pleasanton for what matters to <br />everyone. <br />
