Tri-Valley Adolescent Health Initiative Award Presentations <br />a. League of California Cities <br />Eric Figueroa, East Bay Regional Manager of the League of California Cities, recognized Vice <br />Mayor Thorne as their 2009 President, and presented the City with the Ruth Vreeland Award for <br />Engaging Youth in Local Government through the Tri-Valley Adolescent Health Initiative, which <br />recognizes the City's ability to engage the needs of youth and bring them into the local process <br />into addressing their issues. <br />b. City, County and Schools Partnership <br />Connie Busse, Executive Director, City, County and Schools Partnerships, presented the City <br />with the 2008 City, County and Schools Partnership Award, stating each year the association <br />gives the award to one city who has won the Helen Putnam award for being able to collaborate <br />and work together, and wisely use and leverage resources. She noted three cities are working <br />together with the schools and the County addressing the health of adolescents. <br />9. Public Comment: <br />Kay Ayala spoke about her involvement with Measure PP, the competing initiative Measure OO, <br />and presented a hit piece that arrived in the mail on Saturday against Measure PP paid for by <br />Californians United for Good Government. <br />Kathy Dowding said she is filled with hope that the results of the election may mark the <br />beginning of the end of the war and she read the names of the latest soldiers who gave their <br />lives in Iraq. <br />PUBLIC HEARINGS AND OTHER MATTERS <br />10. Continued from October 21 -Public Hearing: PUD-72, Jerome and Laura Raney - <br />Consider an application for Planned Unit Development rezoning of two parcels totaling <br />approximately .51 acres from the RM-1,500 (Multiple-Family Residential) District to the <br />PUD-HDR (Planned Unit Development - High Density Residential) District and <br />development plan approval to construct three new residences at 4715, 4715-B, and <br />4693 Augustine Street <br />Principal Planner, Donna Decker, gave the staff report and a brief description of the request to <br />merge and re-subdivide two lots into six lots and six units, surrounding land uses, property <br />location, a noise analysis prepared by Charles Salter and Associates, the arbor report and an <br />explanation for removal of trees, open space and landscaped areas, carport design and the new <br />unit's garages for existing and new homes, the recommended allowance for an FAR of up to <br />44% for the new units, total square footages of homes, and she said staff believes the project <br />design is a good fit for the area. A tentative map will return to the Council at a later date and the <br />rezoning is consistent with the General Plan density at .51 acres for a maximum of 12 dwelling <br />units on the site. <br />City Council Minutes 2 November 4, 2008 <br />
