RESOLUTION NO. 08- <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON, <br />CALIFORNIA, RECITING THE FACT OF THE CONSOLIDATED GENERAL <br />MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD ON NOVEMBER 4, 2008 DECLARING THE RESULT <br />AND SUCH OTHER MATTERS AS PROVIDED BY LAW <br />WHEREAS, a General Municipal Election was held and conducted in the City of <br />Pleasanton, California, Tuesday, November 4, 2008, as required by law; and <br />WHEREAS, notice of the election was given in the time, form and manner as provided <br />by law; that voting precincts were properly established; that election officers were appointed and <br />that in all respects the election was held and conducted and the votes were cast, received and <br />canvassed and the returns made and declared in time, form and manner as required by the <br />provisions of the Elections Code of the State of California for the holding of elections in general <br />law cities; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 08-209 adopted June 3, 2008 and Resolution <br />Nos. 08-227 and 08-228 adopted July 15, 2008, the Alameda County Election Department <br />canvassed the returns of the election and has certified the results, which are attached and made <br />a part hereof as "Exhibit A". <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />PLEASANTON DOES RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS: <br />SECTION 1. That the total number of ballots cast in said election was 35,071 which <br />represent 83.98% of Pleasanton's eligible voters. <br />SECTION 2. That the names of the persons voted for at the election for Members of <br />the City Council were as follows: <br />Office of Mayor Office of Councilmember <br />Jennifer Hosterman Cindy McGovern <br />Steve Brozosky Matt Sullivan <br />Howard Neely <br />Jerry Pentin <br />SECTION 3. That the Measures voted for at the election are as follows: <br />Measure PP: Shall the Save Pleasanton's Hills and Housing Cap Citizens' Initiative be <br />adopted? <br />Measure QQ: Shall the Pleasanton Ridgeline Protection and Growth Control Initiative be <br />adopted, that would preserve scenic hillsides and ridges surrounding Pleasanton, and affirm <br />and implement policies that protect hillsides and define housing units that respects the voter- <br />approved housing cap? <br />SECTION 4. That the number of votes given at each precinct and the number of votes <br />given in the City to each of the persons above named for the respective offices for which the <br />persons were candidates, and the number of votes given at each precinct and the number of <br />votes given for the Measure is as listed in "Exhibit "B" attached. <br />
