would be beneficial to have an identifying logo/letterhead. This
is proposed to be developed during FY 1985-86.

The Transportation Coordinator is planning three district
training courses for the company and complex coordinators in
Pleasanton. The training classes given in FY 1984-85 were well
attended and provided valuable information on commute
alternatives, the services of RIDES for Bay Area Commuters, and
marketing. Topics being considered for this year are writing for
promotions, newsletters and news releases; alternative work
hours; and the commute alternatives workshop for coordinators new
to Pleasanton.

Proposed TSM Budget Amendment -~

A TSM budget amendment is attached describing additional costs
associated with the measures included in the proposed TSM Program
for City employees, and costs associated with the citywide
implementation of the TSM Ordinance.

Please note that providing covered preferential parking (item
I.E.) is a one time cost which should be looked at as amortized
over 10 years or so. Additionally, the posters and flyers (item
I.G.) and bicycle routes maps (item I.H.) will also be used as a
part of the citywide program. They will be provided to employers
required under the ordinance to implement transportation
information programs.

A part-time marketing intern is included to help the City
Coordinator with design of promotional materials, scheduling and
hosting events, and writing news releases and articles. This is
a necessity due to time restrictions from other regional and
citywide implementation, monitoring and enforcement tasks in
which the City Coordinator is involved.

Resolution Establishing A TSM Policy Statement

A resolution is attached which establishes a formal policy
statement in support of the ongoing TSM program. A policy
statement is an important, cohesive element of an employer's TSM
program. It establishes executive commitment for the concept and
the program. The City Coordinator has been encouraging the
management of large employers in Pleasanton to adopt such
statements, and feels it is ~ppropriate for the City to do so in
the form of a resolution.

Page 3
SR85:550
