EXHIBIT "A"
SCOPE OF WORK

1. VERIFY EXISTING CONDITIONS

The existing aerial topography will be reflown in order to reflect the
changed conditions along the south side of Stanley Boulevard.

Field and administrative research will be conducted with the help of City
Staff, to determine the existence and location of existing overhead and
underground utilities within the project limits.

It is anticipated that the underground S. P. pipeline is clear of the
proposed improvements and no modifications to it are necessary.

2. PREPARATION OF ROADWAY IMPROVEMENT PLANS

Bissell & Karn has previously prepared preliminary improvement plans for
this project based on an "at-grade" crossing of the Union Pacific Railroad
near Stanley Boulevard. These plans will be the basis or starting point
of this contract.

The preliminary plans will he completed and expanded as follows:

The vertical alignment on Valley Avenue will be adjusted to conform
with the grade crossing structure/roadway plan being prepared by
Del euw-CatheP Co.

The vertical alignment on Stanley Boulevard will be modified
similarly. The plan and profile drawings fop Stanley Boulevard will
extend to the southeasterly line of the California Street intersec-
tion. The easterly limit will provide full improvements to the City
Limit and minimal conforming from the County line approximately two
hundred feet easterly.

The basic roadway design will include provision for an underground
storm drainage system to handle the appropriate roadway and
right-of-way area drainage. Horizontal and vertical alignment will
be provided for extension of nearby water and sewer mains. Sizing of
these lines will be as provided by the City.

Joint trench drawings will be provided for Valley Avenue only, to
include gas, electricity and telephone distribution systems. It is
understood that future developments along the south side of Stanley
Boulevard will provide for the location and design of these
facilities when development occurs.

An Engineer's Estimate will be prepared and submitted to the City
along with final plans.
