Recommendations and Elements of the Plan

A. Site Boundaries

1. Residential site improvements at private property on Cabernet Court appears
to extend on to park land. Recommendation: City to investigate.

2. Maintenance access (pedestrian path) from Bevilaequa Court to park should be
maintained (with gate in proposed chain link fence).

3. Fence proposed along park boundary at north side of large concrete water tank
will restrict vehicle access to this side of tank. Vehicle aeeess is not impaired
at all other sides of tank.

B. Existing Conditions
The existing elements of the site should remain with few exceptions.

1. Man-Made Elements

a. The gate at the bottom of the hill should be moved downhill to a point
which allows space for a truck to park while new gate is being opened
and incorporated into the perimeter fence, as shown on the plan .

b. Two short portions of existing chain link fence at the tank building should
be removed in conjunction with extending the existing fence to enclose
the building at the proposed gate as shown on the plan.

c. The existing trail up the slope (on the east side of the park) should be
eliminated by regrading and seeding with native grasses.

d. The existing barb wire fence, partially buried now, should be removed.
2. Natural Elements

a. The berry and grape vines on the park's east side halfway up the slope
should be removed, as they are a maintenance problem and are out of
character with the rest of the vegetation in the park.

b. Only those existing trees which are dead, dying, or are a severe
maintenance problem should be removed.

c. The existing almond trees are not native to this area and are not in a
perfectly healthy condition. However, the expense of extensive pruning
or removal is not justified. These trees are relatively short lived and
provide adequate tree cover until the native oak trees (more suited to
the site) spread throughout the park. These almond trees should be
removed in the future by the city as they become diseased and die.

10
