Discussion ensued relating to drainage of excess water from the parking lot, the interface of the hotel <br />with the Tri-Valley Herald building, and location of driveway. <br />PUBLIC HEARING WAS OPENED <br />Tim Syler, Homestead Village Group, expressed appreciation to the staff for their cooperation on the <br />project. He stated the developer agreed with all of staffs conditions except for Condition No. 59. Jerry <br />Wincott, Civil Engineer, addressed issues relating to Condition No. 59 as contained in Exhibit "B", and <br />requested that the utility box be left intact and adjusted to grade due to Pacific Bell's concern with <br />relocating the utility box. <br />Mr. Higdon suggested changing condition No. 59 to read, The applicants shall relocate the utility box in <br />the area of driveway subject to the review and approval by the City Engineer. <br />Discussion ensued relating to relocation of air conditioning units, utilization of night security guazds, <br />health club and dining accommodations for guests, the inside corridor design of the proposed plan, <br />access to front and back entrances, and modes of transportation that guests will be utilizing. <br />PUBLIC HEARING WAS CLOSED <br />Commissioner Cooper expressed support of the design of the project and with the wind-driven, kinetic <br />sculpture. He stated he would vote in favor of approving the application. <br />Commissioner Maas expressed concurrence with Commissioner Cooper's statements. <br />Commissioner Kameny expressed support in the design of the project. He stated he would vote in favor <br />of approving the project. <br />Commissioner Sullivan spoke in favor of the location of the project due to it being mixed use and in <br />being in close proximity to public transportation. Commissioner Sullivan suggested that the applicant <br />use the wind driven kinetic sculpture as a wind generators, maybe powered by a battery charger for <br />emergency lights." <br />Vice-Chairperson Roberts stated she would vote in support of approving the application. <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Kameny, seconded by Commissioner Cooper, to approve <br />Case PUD-81-30-77D, subject to the conditions listed in Exhibit B, including the modification to <br />Item No. 59 relating to the utility box. <br />ROLL CALL VOTE <br />AYES: Commissioners Cooper, Kameny, Maas, Sullivan and Vice-Chairperson Roberts, <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Chairperson Kumazan <br />ABSTAIN: None <br />Resolution No. PC-98-90 was entered and adopted as motioned. <br />PLANNING COMMISSION MINUTES <br />Page 8 <br />November 23, 1998 <br />
