Discussion ensued relating to the color and materials used on roof installation; installation of a new <br />signs; the tower's visibility from adjoining streets; wheelchair accessibility; existing trees being left <br />intact on Bernal; and building color. <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Maas, seconded by Commissioner Kameny, to approve <br />Case Z-98-236 subject to the conditions listed in Exhibit "B." <br />ROLL CALL VOTE <br />AYES: Commissioners Kameny, Maas, Roberts, Sullivan and Chairperson Kumazan <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Commissioner Cooper <br />ABSTAIN: None <br />Resolution No. PC-98-83 was entered and approved as motioned. <br />MATTERS INITIATED BY COMMISSION MEMBERS <br />Chairperson Kumazan alluded to the accident close to Harvest Park and initiated discussion relating to <br />which City entity is responsible for providing crossing guards at schools. Mr. Iserson responded that <br />this is the Police Department's responsibility. <br />Commissioner Kameny requested that staff examine traffic issues at the intersection of Spring Street <br />and Main Street and the stop sign at St. Mary and Main Street relating to the possibility of installing a do <br />not block the intersection sign or painting on the pavement a "keep clear" designation similar to what is <br />on W. Las Positas neaz Fire Station No. 3. <br />Commissioner Roberts expressed concern with the "Welcome to Pleasanton" sign located on Stanley <br />Boulevard and Valley Avenue and requested that staff look into removal of the sign. Mr. Iserson noted <br />that this sign was approved as part of the development plan for the self-storage facility. Commissioner <br />Kameny expressed concern with the size of the sign. <br />Commissioner Sullivan informed the Commission that the Land Use and Transportation workshop will <br />be held November 23, 1998 at 6:00 p.m. <br />Commissioner Maas noted that Commissioner Roberts and herself attended a workshop on the <br />transformation of strip malls. <br />Commissioner Kameny expressed concern with the potential impact on the adjacent K & B subdivision <br />once it is built, due to the installation of bright lights at the 76 gas station on Ray and First Street. <br />8.
