PUBLIC HEARING WAS OPENED <br />Mr. Sweeney stated that a number of hotels were turned down to build in the Hacienda Business Park <br />area due to the high-standards of the Business Park not being met. <br />PUBLIC HEARING WAS CLOSED <br />Commissioner Sullivan expressed concern with having another extended-stay facility in the azea. He <br />suggested having a mazket-study performed before approval of application is granted by the Planning <br />Commission. <br />Commissioner Maas stated she will support the application. <br />Commissioner Dove stated that the Planning Commission is not being asked to approve a particulaz <br />application for use at this time. Further, he stated the majority of hotels in the area are in Pleasanton. <br />He stated that a market analysis is being performed to establish the need in the community for this type <br />of project. He concluded by expressing his support of the application. <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Dove, seconded by Commissioner Roberts, that the <br />Commission find that the PUD modifications are in the best interest of the public health, safety, <br />and general welfare and that a resolution be adopted recommending approval of Case <br />PUD-81-30-41M to the City Council, subject to the conditions shown in Exhibit "B". <br />ROLL CALL VOTE <br />AYES: Commissioners Dove, Maas, and Roberts <br />NOES: Commissioner Sullivan and Chair Kumazan <br />ABSENT: Commissioner Cooper <br />ABSTAIN: None <br />Resolution No. PC-98-68 was entered and adopted as motioned. <br />7. MATTERS INITIATED BY COMMISSION MEMBERS <br />Commissioner Sullivan stated he would like the Planning Commission to examine areas for inclusion in <br />the Specific Plan for recommendation to the City Council. Further, he requested that this item be <br />agendized for discussion at the September 2, 1998 Planning Commission workshop. <br />Commissioner Sullivan requested that the Baseline Traffic Counts for 1998, Forecast and Buildout <br />Forecast, be agendized for discussion. Commissioner Maas suggested having a formal presentation of <br />the traffic report by staff. Chairperson Kumazan suggested beginning the September 9, 1998 meeting at <br />6:00 p.m. to allow for staff presentation of the traffic report. <br />PLANNING COMMISSION MINUTES Page 10 August 26, 1998 <br />
