critical and suggests that the City acquire a nearby location for additional parking. With regard to the
fire station, he would like to keep it a city-owned property and would support uses in the performing
arts. In addition, he noted that the efforts of the task force do not interfere with the future plan for the
stream train, and he supports both the steam train and the light rail.
Chair Cooper also thanked Ms. Bengtson for dedicating her service to the City and for her work on the
task force. He feels that overall the plan is very nice for Pleasanton, and he has no disagreement with
any of the major points. He feels that the azroyo habitat is very important and is a nice place to walk,
although it should be more accessible. He concurs with Commissioner Wright to make the Main Street
Bridge ahistorical-looking bridge. He also hopes that there would be enough room to construct a small
parking area neaz the bridge. He further commented that he would like the fire station to remain a
City-owned property and feels it would be a good location for an arts center or perhaps mixed use with a
deli. He does not support removing the building in order to gain extra space, but will support its use for
community events. Chair Cooper also stated that although he does not want the entire creek to be
covered, he feels is should modified to be less hazazdous. However, he feels that possibly a portion of
the creek along Delucchi Pazk could be used for pazking.
In addition, he agrees that the trail corridor should extend to Old Stanley. He does not want to have a
light rail in that azea, but will support use of the historical steam train. He feels that the train has
problems, but it is logical to bring it downtowm. The issue of where to terminate it needs to be
addressed. He is not in agreement with either of the locations proposed for a downtown square because
he feels it would detract from Main Street. He stated that a location for a downtown squaze should be
appropriately integrated with its surroundings. He is in agreement that a restroom is needed at Wayside
Park. He also stated that he would support removing that bandstand and constructing a new one.
A brief discussion took place relating to the proposed downtown project.
7. At Commissioner Kumazan's
suggestion, the Commission agreed it would be a good idea for a member of the Affordable Housing
Commission attend a Planning Commission meeting to explain their objectives. He will follow-up on
the suggestion and coordinate a date.
Commissioner Dove commented that he recently received the EIR for the golf course. He reminded the
Commission that Roger Higdon agreed to provide some information on the golf course to the
Commission and will answer any questions. Mr. Higdon stated that a sepazate PUD will be coming
before the Commission within the next few months relating to the golf course.
Chair Cooper reported that he reviewed the Parks and Recreation Commission Minutes and found that
Carl Morrison presented a review of the Dublin and San Ramon Service District relating to their Clean
- Water Revival Program.
