THE CITY OF
CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
j~L£~S~4NTONa
September 16, 2008
Parks and Community Services
TITLE: APPROVAL OF THE REVISED PLEASANTON PARATRANSIT SERVICE
(PPS) AND LIVERMORE AMADOR VALLEY TRANSIT AUTHORITY
(LAVTA) MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING FOR PARATRANSIT
SERVICES
SUMMARY
In 1992, the City of Pleasanton entered into an agreement with the Livermore Amador
Valley Transit Authority (LAVTA) to provide reciprocal paratransit services between the
City and LAVTA in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The
agencies work jointly to offer paratransit services between respective jurisdictions
during Pleasanton Paratransit Service's standard hours of operation.
Over the years, both the City's and LAVTA's services have changed, requiring an
update to the original Memorandum of Understanding. City and LAVTA staff worked
jointly to revise the document to accurately reflect each agency's responsibilities for
paratransit services in Pleasanton. At its meeting on August 6, 2008, the Human
Services Commission reviewed and expressed its support of the revised MOU.
HUMAN SERVICES COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION
That the City Council approve the revised Pleasanton Paratransit Service and
Livermore Amador Valley Transit Authority Memorandum of Understanding.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff concurs with the recommendation of the Human Services Commission.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT
There are no financial impacts to the City associated with this action.
