THE CITY OF
CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
j~L£~S~4NTONo
September 16, 2008
Parks and Community Services
TITLE: RESOLUTION SUPPORTING EAST BAY REGIONAL PARK
DISTRICT'S MEASURE WW, AN EXTENSION OF THE MEASURE AA
BOND FOR REGIONAL OPEN SPACE, WILDLIFE, SHORELINE, AND
PARKS
SUMMARY
East Bay Regional Park District (EBPRD) has placed Measure WW on the November 4,
2008 ballot. It is an extension of the existing 1988 Measure AA bond, and would
provide funds for regional open space, wildlife habitat, shoreline, park development, and
each local community in Alameda and Contro Costa counties.
On September 2, 2008, EBRPD Board President Ayn Wieskamp appeared before the
City Council to discuss the merits of Measure WW, and seek the City Council's formal
endorsement for the bond measure. During the "Matters Initiated by Council" portion of
the agenda, staff was directed to place this item on tonight's agenda for consideration.
RECOMMENDATION
That the City Council approve the attached Resolution in support of EBRPD's Measure
W W.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT
There is no fiscal impact associated with this action; however, should Measure WW be
approved by voters, the City is projected to receive $3,171,377 for local park needs.
