Extensions Program which has already received federal <br /> funding contracts to construct the Guadalupe Corridor <br /> project; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, continued federal support of the new starts and rail <br /> modernization program is an essential financial building <br /> block of the region's New Transit Starts and Extensions <br /> Program; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, recognizing these facts, the Congress of the United <br /> States of America has continually authorized support for <br /> essential mass transit services for two decades; and, <br /> since 1964, every Administration has endorsed such <br /> funding support; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the proposed Reagan Administration cuts would provide <br /> for a disproportionate reduction in funding for transit <br /> programs; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: The City Council of the City of Pleasanton urges <br /> Congress and the Administration to adopt the American <br /> Public Transit Association's proposal to preserve the <br /> current level of the Urban Mass Transportation <br /> ADministration funding. <br /> <br />Section 2: The City Council of the City of Pleasanton urges <br /> Congress to reauthorize all existing Urban Mass <br /> Transportation Administration programs for three more <br /> years. <br /> <br />Section 3: Copies of this resolution shall be provided to <br /> Alameda County members of the Bay Area Congressional <br /> Delegation, appropriate representatives of the federal <br /> administration, and other interested public and private <br /> individuals and groups as may be appropriate. <br /> <br />Section 4: This resolution shall become effective immediately <br /> upon its passage and adoption. <br /> <br />THIS RESOLUTION ADOPTED MAY 7, 1985 BY THE FOLLOWING VOTE: <br /> <br /> <br />
