<br />THE CITY OF <br />- - ' == "" CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br />j~L~~S~4NTONe <br />September 2, 2008 <br />City Manager <br />TITLE: ADOPT A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING A COMMITTEE ON ENERGY <br />AND THE ENVIRONMENT <br />SUMMARY <br />The City Council Work Plan includes a goal to study the establishment of an advisory <br />commission to the City Council on energy and the environment. At its meeting of July <br />15, 2008, the City Council approved the creation of a Committee on Energy and the <br />Environment (Committee) and directed staff to prepare a draft resolution setting forth <br />the Committee's duties, responsibilities, membership and term. Attached for Council <br />review is a draft resolution for consideration. Consistent with Council action, the <br />resolution anticipates a Committee term of iwo years. During the second year, the City <br />Council will review the Committee's duties and responsibilities and decide on its long- <br />term role if any. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Review and adopt the attached resolution creating a Committee on Energy and the <br />Environment (Attachment 1). <br />FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br />The City Manager will use existing City personnel to staff the Committee and as a <br />result, funds are available for ongoing Committee administration. However, some <br />professional services may be necessary during its initial stages to address special <br />studies or to assist with administrative functions. Funding for these services, if any, will <br />be processed in accordance with City budgeting and purchasing procedures. <br />
