17 <br />THE CITY OF <br />-~ I' -'- ~"' CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br />j~L£~S~4NTONo <br />August 19, 2008 <br />Public Works Department <br />TITLE: INITIATION OF ANNEXATION PROCEEDINGS FOR ANNEXATION NO. <br />152 (MARTIN AVENUE BUFFER ZONE) <br />SUMMARY <br />The annexation of the Martin Avenue Buffer Zone is a City Council priority. This 13.26 <br />acre parcel is located on the east side of Martin Avenue which includes multi-use trails <br />connecting Mohr Avenue to Mohr Elementary School and Amaral Park. The access <br />includes a paved pathway along Martin Avenue separated by a tree planter strip area <br />and unimproved trails meandering through the property. This parcel is currently outside <br />the City limits and with the concurrence of Zone 7 the City is proposing annexation of <br />this parcel into the City of Pleasanton to ensure that the area owned by Zone 7 is <br />maintained for recreational and pedestrian uses. <br />The first step in the annexation process is adoption of resolutions requesting initiation of <br />the annexation and agreeing to the exchange of property tax revenue for the proposed <br />annexation. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />1. Adopt a resolution of application to LAFCo for annexation of 13.26 acres to the City of <br />Pleasanton. <br />2. Adopt a resolution agreeing to the exchange of property tax revenue under the <br />standard property tax exchange formula. <br />FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br />There will be nominal costs associated with the annexation along with routine <br />maintenance by the City when this parcel is within the City of Pleasanton and the <br />license agreement is executed. <br />
