17
THE CITY OF
-~ I' -'- ~"' CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
j~L£~S~4NTONo
August 19, 2008
Public Works Department
TITLE: INITIATION OF ANNEXATION PROCEEDINGS FOR ANNEXATION NO.
152 (MARTIN AVENUE BUFFER ZONE)
SUMMARY
The annexation of the Martin Avenue Buffer Zone is a City Council priority. This 13.26
acre parcel is located on the east side of Martin Avenue which includes multi-use trails
connecting Mohr Avenue to Mohr Elementary School and Amaral Park. The access
includes a paved pathway along Martin Avenue separated by a tree planter strip area
and unimproved trails meandering through the property. This parcel is currently outside
the City limits and with the concurrence of Zone 7 the City is proposing annexation of
this parcel into the City of Pleasanton to ensure that the area owned by Zone 7 is
maintained for recreational and pedestrian uses.
The first step in the annexation process is adoption of resolutions requesting initiation of
the annexation and agreeing to the exchange of property tax revenue for the proposed
annexation.
RECOMMENDATION
1. Adopt a resolution of application to LAFCo for annexation of 13.26 acres to the City of
Pleasanton.
2. Adopt a resolution agreeing to the exchange of property tax revenue under the
standard property tax exchange formula.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT
There will be nominal costs associated with the annexation along with routine
maintenance by the City when this parcel is within the City of Pleasanton and the
license agreement is executed.
