12
THE CITY OF
"' CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
j~L£~S~4NTONo
August 19, 2008
Public Works Department
TITLE: APPROVE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS, REVIEW BIDS AND AWARD
CONTRACT TO ENVZ INC. IN THE AMOUNT OF $85,506 FOR MOHR
AVENUE SIDEWALK CONSTRUCTION, CIP NO. 015032
SUMMARY
Staff is recommending award of a construction contract to ENVZ, Inc., of San Jose,
California in the amount of $85,506 for sidewalk and landscaping improvements along
Mohr Avenue between Santa Rita Road and the Iron Horse Trail and curb ramp
improvements at the intersection of Isabel and Vineyard Avenues (See Attachment 1).
RECOMMENDATION
1. Approve the plans and specifications for this project.
2. Review the bids received (attachment 2) and award a construction contract to ENVZ,
Inc. of San Jose in the amount of $85,506.
3. Authorize the City Manager to execute the construction contract in a form approved
by the City Attorney.
4. Authorize the Director of Public Works to approve and execute any required contract
change orders to address unanticipated project conditions for a total not-to-exceed
amount of $13,000 (approximately 15% of the contract) and a separate change
order of $6,100 for the construction of two intersection access ramps at Vineyard
and Isabel Avenues.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT
This project will replace and upgrade existing infrastructure and should not increase
maintenance costs. The Mohr Avenue work is fully funded in the City's Capital
Improvement Program, Project No. 015032 and these funds will also be used for the
intersection access ramps. Because one of the intersection access ramps is located in
the City of Livermore, it will reimburse the City for its proportionate share of the roadway
costs, for an estimated reimbursement of $4,300. Total project cost with contingency is
estimated at $104,606. A summary of funding sources and estimated expenditures is
presented in Attachment 3.
