10 <br />THE CITY OF <br />~ ..._ <br />j~L~~1S~4NTONe CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br />August 19, 2008 <br />Police Department <br />City Manager's Office <br />TITLE: ADOPT A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AND RATIFYING AN <br />AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CALIFORNIA HIGHWAY PATROL AND <br />THE PLEASANTON POLICE DEPARTMENT FOR THE RECEIPT OF <br />GRANT FUNDS FOR POLICE ASSISTANCE WITH IN THE TRI-VALLEY <br />SAFETY CHALLENGE <br />SUMMARY <br />The California Highway Patrol (CHP) will provide up to $12,000 in grant funds to <br />reimburse the City for costs related to Police Department participation in the Tri-Valley <br />Safety Challenge for organized traffic enforcement and public safety awareness <br />activities. State and CHP policies require formal Council authorization of this <br />agreement. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Adopt the attached resolution authorizing the City to enter into this Agreement with the <br />CHP. <br />FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br />No financial effect, as any Police Department staff time, including overtime, used to <br />participate in the CHP's Tri-Valley Safety Challenge will be reimbursed by the grant <br />monies, up to $12,000. <br />
